I wish I had more time. Or less work. Maybe both.
One of my goals this year was to carve out a little more “me time”. Time to blog, to socialize with friends, to be creative, to exercise and maybe even to cook. Probably not that last one, but you never know what could happen with a spare 4 hours. So far, this “me time” has not really materialized. The harsh reality is that I have two needy, adorable children and a full-time job. So basically, I am always just about fresh out of time (and energy BTW).
As such, I would like to add the item “invent more time” to the MIT hackathon that is going on (did you read about this? They are trying to make breast pumps that don’t totally suck! I love higher education. And the thought of nerdy boys, who have probably never been laid, having to think about milk-producing boobies). Surely those brainiacs can also figure out how to add a few hours to each day, right? But…and I stress…we only want the extra hours if there is a stipulation that you have to spend them alone. At the spa. With free-flowing champagne.
Anyway, until they figure that one out, I reckon I should probably just lower my expectations (thanks to Sue and Trina for imparting me with this very important life lesson). I should probably start being more accepting of my slightly larger, post-baby-number-two frame. I should probably go ahead and accept those 32 frames are never gonna actually make it on a wall. And I should probably come to terms with the fact that my dream of churning out 3 blog posts a week is just that…a dream.
- I stop eating carbs (NEVER!)
- I ignore my children for dangerously long periods of time to play with power tools (I looked it up, but apparently this is not recommended by the National Pediatric Association )
- I write shorter, crappier blog posts. (This I can totally do!)
And so the Friday Funny is born.
Friday Funny: A laughably short, half-assed attempt at writing a blog post that will make your readers a little less likely to jump off a bridge on the upcoming weekend. Mostly it contains pictures or things created by other people who have genuine talent and/or time to be creative. Or it is just a photograph of your kid’s art. It always contains spelling mistakes and pays little mind to whether or not other people actually find it funny. Most importantly, it is almost always posted on Saturday, not Friday.
Today’s Friday Funny comes courtesy of my son Beau. Last week he created this piece of “art”.
He says it’s name is Sammy the Snake. Maybe it is just the unfortunate choice of flesh colored play dough or maybe I just have a dirty mind, but I think it looks dangerously similar to something else. And I laughed my head off when I saw it. Hope you do too!
Anyway, happy Friday….errrrrrr…..Saturday!
